Insult or oversight from Dwell?

Dwell has got its new summer catalogue out now and it includes some really eyecatching items. I particularly like the sunburst retro-style wall clock. It looks like it would be right at home in any 50s or even 60s semi.

I'm a little unsure however of the union jack doormat. In my opinion we should be a little (but only a little) more like the Americans and be prepared to fly our flag as a demonstration of our pride in being British. This isn't something to be ashamed of , it's something to be celebrated, as it incorporates people and cultures that have come to these shores from all over the globe.

But, particularly in such troubled times, I would have thought that it might be construed as insensitive to encourage people to wipe the dirt from their feet on our symbol of national pride?
